Everyone deserves the freedom that driving brings. At DriveSQ, we provide patient, supportive, and fully accessible driving instruction tailored to your individual needs. Manual and automatic lessons at just £33/hr with DVSA-approved instructors who genuinely care.
We believe everyone has the right to learn to drive. Whatever your condition, our instructors are trained to support you with patience, understanding, and the right teaching approach.
Whether you have limited mobility, limb differences, or use a wheelchair, we can arrange adapted vehicles and tailor our instruction to work with your physical abilities. Many of our learners with physical conditions pass first time.
If you meet the DVLA eyesight requirements, you can absolutely learn to drive. We provide clear verbal instructions and work at your pace to build your confidence behind the wheel safely.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners are welcome. Our instructors use visual signals, written instructions, and adapt their communication methods to ensure every lesson is clear and effective.
Dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, and other learning differences are fully supported. We break lessons into manageable steps, use visual aids, and adapt our teaching methods to how you learn best.
Epilepsy, diabetes, heart conditions, and other medical conditions do not automatically prevent you from driving. We understand the DVLA requirements and can help you navigate the process with confidence.
Anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges can make learning to drive feel daunting. Our calm, patient instructors create a judgement-free environment where you can learn at your own pace.
Modern vehicle adaptations mean that almost anyone can learn to drive. Here are some of the most common modifications we can arrange for your lessons.
Push-pull or twist-grip hand controls for acceleration and braking, ideal for learners with limited leg function or lower limb conditions.
Steering wheel knobs, balls, or tri-pin devices that allow single-handed steering for those with upper limb limitations or reduced grip strength.
A transferable accelerator pedal on the left side of the brake for learners who cannot use their right foot.
Pedal extensions, guards, and raised pedals to accommodate different physical needs and ensure comfortable reach.
Adapted indicator switches, horn buttons, light controls, and other secondary controls positioned within easy reach.
Book a free, no-obligation assessment lesson. We will evaluate your needs and recommend the right adaptations and approach for you. There is absolutely no pressure.

The Motability scheme is a lifeline for many disabled people, providing access to a car, powered wheelchair, or scooter through your mobility allowance. Understanding how it works alongside learning to drive is important.
While the Motability scheme does not directly fund driving lessons, it can play a vital role in your journey to independence on the road. Here is what you need to know:
Before learning to drive, you must inform the DVLA about any medical conditions or disabilities. Here is a straightforward guide to help you understand the process.
When applying for your provisional licence, you must declare any medical condition or disability that could affect your driving. This is done on the D1 application form or online at gov.uk. Failing to declare can invalidate your licence and insurance.
The DVLA will review your condition and may request a medical report from your doctor. In some cases, they may arrange an independent medical assessment. This is nothing to worry about - it is simply to ensure your safety and that of other road users.
The DVLA will issue your licence (possibly with restrictions or conditions), request more information, or in rare cases, decline. Most conditions do not prevent driving. Your licence may be issued for a shorter period with periodic reviews.
You must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres. If you wear glasses or contact lenses to do this, you must wear them every time you drive. This is a legal requirement tested at the start of your practical driving test.
In some cases, you may be asked to attend a driving assessment at a mobility centre. These centres assess your ability to drive and recommend any vehicle adaptations you may need. DriveSQ can help you prepare for this.
For full details, visit the DVLA medical conditions page or the DVSA fitness to drive guide.
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all instruction. Every disabled learner who comes to DriveSQ receives a completely personalised experience, built around your abilities and goals.
We start with a free, no-pressure assessment to understand your condition, your goals, and any adaptations you might need. This can be done in person or over a phone or WhatsApp call.
Based on your assessment, we create a tailored learning plan that works with your abilities. We set realistic milestones and adjust the pace to suit you completely.
Our DVSA-approved instructors are trained in patience and adaptive teaching. We break complex manoeuvres into small, manageable steps and repeat them as many times as you need without any frustration or judgement.
When you are ready, we prepare you thoroughly for your test. If you need adaptations for your test, we help you arrange these with the DVSA in advance so there are no surprises on the day.

For many disabled learners, choosing an automatic car can make the learning process significantly easier and more comfortable. Without the need to operate a clutch pedal and change gears manually, you can focus entirely on steering, observations, and road safety.
At DriveSQ, we charge the same price for both manual and automatic lessons, so you can choose whichever option works best for you without paying a premium.
