Hulme & Whalley Range Local Area Guide
Lessons around Hulme and Whalley Range use real local roads including Princess Road (A5103), Alexandra Road South and Moss Lane East, so by the time you're ready for your test you've already driven the streets you'll use every day after passing. The Hulme Arch Bridge, installed over Princess Road in 1997, has become one of the area's most recognisable landmarks and a handy waypoint when we're giving directions during lessons.
We also plan around school-run traffic near St Bede's College and Whalley Range High School, using quieter spots like Southern Cemetery for early manoeuvre practice before stepping up to busier sections of Princess Road (A5103).
Test centre: most M15 learners test at West Didsbury Driving Test Centre; mock tests are planned around the routes examiners actually use from there.
“The mock test routes near West Didsbury Driving Test Centre were spot on. Felt like I'd already done my test by the time the real one came round.” – Zara, M15
