Hand Controls
Push-pull or twist-grip hand controls for acceleration and braking, allowing full vehicle control without foot pedals. Fitted to our dual-controlled training vehicles.
Steering Aids
Spinner knobs, fork grips, and palm grips fitted to the steering wheel to accommodate reduced hand strength or limited grip, ensuring safe and precise steering.
Individual Assessment
Before your first lesson, we discuss your specific needs and configure the vehicle accordingly. Every adaptation is checked and tested before you start driving.
Patient Instruction
Our instructors are experienced in teaching with adapted controls. We understand that adapting to different equipment takes time and we never rush the process.
How It Works

Your Journey to Driving Independence

Initial Consultation

Before any lessons begin, we arrange a free consultation to understand your physical requirements, discuss which adaptations would work best for you, and explain the DVLA notification process. This meeting ensures that your first lesson is productive rather than administrative.

Vehicle Configuration

Based on your consultation, we fit the appropriate adaptations to your training vehicle. Whether you need hand controls, pedal modifications, steering aids, or a combination, everything is set up and tested before you arrive. We also ensure our dual controls work seamlessly alongside your adaptations for maximum safety.

Progressive Learning Plan

Your lesson plan is fully personalised. We start with familiarisation with the adapted controls in a quiet area, then progressively introduce road types and traffic conditions as your confidence and skill develop. There is no standardised timeline—you progress at exactly the pace that works for you.

Equal Access: Adapted vehicle lessons cost the same £35/hr as standard lessons. We believe driving independence should be accessible to everyone regardless of physical ability.

Pendleton Local Area Guide

Lessons around Pendleton use real local roads including Fitzwarren Street, Pendleton Way and Eccles Old Road, so by the time you're ready for your test you've already driven the streets you'll use every day after passing. Buile Hill Park, Salford's second-oldest park covering 86 acres, was regularly visited by painter L.S. Lowry before he became famous, and its Grade II listed mansion is rumoured to have inspired Frances Hodgson Burnett while writing The Secret Garden.

We also plan around school-run traffic near St George's CE Primary School and St Sebastian's RC Primary School, using quieter spots like Buile Hill Park for early manoeuvre practice before stepping up to busier sections of Fitzwarren Street.

Test centre: most learners around Pendleton test at Salford (Fire Station) Driving Test Centre, Liverpool Street, Ordsall, Salford, M5 4LE; mock tests are planned around the routes examiners actually use from there.

“Booking was easy and my instructor adapted lessons around St George's CE Primary School traffic without me even having to ask.” – Priya, Pendleton
