Pass Plus is a voluntary training programme developed by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) for newly qualified drivers. It covers six modules designed to build the experience and confidence you don't fully develop during standard lessons — and there is no test at the end. Your ADI assesses your progress throughout.
You complete a minimum of 6 hours of driving with a DVSA-registered ADI. There is no separate test — your instructor assesses your competence across all six modules as you drive. On completion, DriveSQ registers your Pass Plus certificate with the DVSA and provides the documentation you need to claim insurance discounts.

You'll navigate tram crossings, bus-only corridors, pedestrian zones, and heavily-used junctions. The Oxford Road corridor — one of the busiest bus routes in Europe — is a core part of this module.
Manchester receives more annual rainfall than virtually every other major UK city — so this module is rarely theoretical here. You'll learn to adapt braking distances on wet surfaces, manage motorway spray at speed, and drive safely in reduced-visibility conditions on both urban and faster roads.
From Manchester city centre, the A6 Buxton Road takes you directly toward the Peak District within 20 minutes. You'll experience narrow lanes, farm junctions with limited sightlines, passing places, and the kind of moorland approach roads that new drivers rarely encounter during lessons in an urban area.
Manchester's night driving environment is genuinely varied — from the bright lighting of the city centre and key arterials, through semi-lit suburban roads in areas like Fallowfield, Withington, and Levenshulme, to darker stretches on outward routes. You'll practise managing your headlights, avoiding dazzle, and reading road markings after dark.
Greater Manchester has an extensive dual carriageway network used every day by commuters and through traffic. Your Pass Plus will include joining and leaving at speed, safe overtaking, lane discipline in busy conditions, and driving at higher sustained speeds without motorway regulations.
Manchester sits at the centre of one of England's most complex motorway networks. Your motorway module will cover the M60 orbital, M56 to Manchester Airport, sections of the M62 toward Leeds, and the M6 interchange. You'll cover joining at speed, lane discipline, smart motorway overhead signals, and the correct response to contraflow situations.
