Flexible scheduling that respects fasting hours and Iftar, so your driving progress does not have to pause for Ramadan.
Manchester is home to a large and vibrant Muslim community, and DriveSQ recognises that observing Ramadan should not mean pausing your driving progress for a month. With thoughtful scheduling and an understanding approach, learning to drive during Ramadan is entirely manageable—many students find it a productive time to continue or even begin lessons.
Fasting affects energy levels differently throughout the day, and concentration matters enormously when driving. DriveSQ offers flexible scheduling that avoids the lowest-energy periods (typically late afternoon before Iftar) in favour of times when most students feel more alert—late morning, shortly after Suhoor in early morning, or in the evening after breaking fast when energy often returns.
Many of our Ramadan students prefer late-morning lessons (10 AM-12 PM), when the initial post-Suhoor energy is still present but before the late-afternoon fatigue sets in. Post-Iftar evening lessons are also popular, particularly during the longer daylight hours of summer Ramadans, when energy levels rebound after breaking the fast. We avoid scheduling intensive or particularly demanding lessons (like motorway practice or test preparation) during the hour immediately before Iftar.
DriveSQ instructors approach Ramadan with genuine cultural understanding and respect. If you are finding a particular lesson time more difficult than expected due to fasting, simply let your instructor know—we would always rather reschedule than push through a lesson that is not productive or, more importantly, not safe.
There is no need to rush your driving progress during Ramadan if it does not suit your energy levels and priorities during this important month. Many students choose to maintain a lighter lesson schedule during Ramadan and resume a more intensive pace afterward—both approaches work well, and DriveSQ adapts entirely to what suits you.
Every DriveSQ student gets free access to our Student Portal with 700+ DVSA theory questions, 14 mock tests, hazard perception training, and progress tracking.

Lessons around Hyde use real local roads including Manchester Road, Market Street and Stockport Road, so by the time you're ready for your test you've already driven the streets you'll use every day after passing. The bell in Hyde Town Hall's clocktower is known as 'Owd Joss', named after Joshua Bradley, a former child mill worker who rose to become a factory manager and town councillor who paid for the clock and bells.
We also plan around school-run traffic near Greenfield Primary School and Gee Cross Holy Trinity Primary School, using quieter spots like Hyde Town Hall for early manoeuvre practice before stepping up to busier sections of Manchester Road.
Test centre: most learners around Hyde test at Hyde (Manchester) Driving Test Centre, 23 Perrin Street, Hyde SK14 1JE; mock tests are planned around the routes examiners actually use from there.
“My instructor knew exactly which junctions near Greenfield Primary School get busy at school-run time and planned around them.” – George, Hyde
