Learn to drive on the roads surrounding Manchester Airport including Ringway, Shadowmoss, Simonsway, and the Wythenshawe road network. DVSA-approved tuition from £35/hr.
The roads around Manchester Airport offer a unique training environment with dual carriageways, complex roundabouts, and quieter residential areas all within a short drive.
Simonsway is a major dual carriageway connecting Wythenshawe to the airport terminals. It features multiple roundabouts, bus lanes, and traffic-light-controlled junctions that are excellent for developing advanced junction skills. Ringway Road connects to the quieter village of Ringway and provides a transition from dual carriageway to single-track country lanes, building your ability to adapt to different road types.
Shadowmoss Road runs through a residential area with a good mix of parked cars, mini-roundabouts, and 30mph zones. Styal Road connects the airport area to Styal village and features narrow sections, blind bends, and rural driving conditions. Together, they give you experience across every road type you might encounter on your test or in daily driving.
From the airport area, you can reach the Sale DVSA Test Centre via the A538 and A56 in approximately 15 minutes, or the West Didsbury centre via Palatine Road in about 20 minutes. We practise the routes to both centres during your lessons, giving you flexibility when booking your test.
Sale: 15 mins via A538/A56
West Didsbury: 20 mins via Palatine Road
We cover both centres’ routes in your lessons.
Every DriveSQ student gets free access to our Student Portal with 700+ DVSA theory questions, 14 mock tests, hazard perception training, and progress tracking.
The airport area offers a brilliant mix of road types for learning. Book your first lesson on WhatsApp.
Lessons around Didsbury use real local roads including Parrs Wood Lane, Barlow Moor Road and Wilmslow Road, so by the time you're ready for your test you've already driven the streets you'll use every day after passing. Fletcher Moss Botanical Garden, 21 acres on the bank of the Mersey, was gifted to the city by Alderman Fletcher Moss back in 1917 and remains a quiet favourite among local learners for early parking practice.
We also plan around school-run traffic near Didsbury CE Primary School and Parrs Wood High School (one of the UK's largest secondaries), using quieter spots like The Christie NHS cancer hospital for early manoeuvre practice before stepping up to busier sections of Parrs Wood Lane.
Test centre: most learners around Didsbury test at West Didsbury Driving Test Centre; mock tests are planned around the routes examiners actually use from there.
“Passed first time after focusing on Parrs Wood Lane every week. Knowing the road meant I wasn't thinking about the route, just the driving.” – Lucy, Didsbury
