Convenient driving lessons for MRI staff, students, and visitors. Flexible scheduling around shift patterns.
Manchester Royal Infirmary on Oxford Road is one of the city's largest employers, with thousands of staff, students, and visitors passing through daily. For NHS workers on rotating shifts, finding a driving school that accommodates irregular hours can be challenging. DriveSQ offers fully flexible scheduling—including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends—making it possible to learn to drive around even the most unpredictable work patterns.
We provide convenient pickup from safe locations near the MRI, including side streets off Oxford Road, the university campus area, and residential streets in Rusholme and Ardwick. Your instructor works around your availability, not the other way around.
Oxford Road is one of Manchester's most complex driving environments: bus lanes, cycle lanes, pedestrian crossings, university traffic, and emergency vehicles create a demanding but incredibly educational setting. DriveSQ uses the Oxford Road corridor as an advanced-skills module, teaching you to manage multi-user road spaces safely and confidently. This experience makes you a stronger driver on any UK road.
Hospital shift patterns do not follow a nine-to-five schedule, and neither do we. DriveSQ instructors near the MRI offer lesson slots from 7 AM through to 8 PM, seven days a week. Whether you are coming off a night shift, have a gap between day shifts, or are free on a random Wednesday afternoon, we will find a slot that works. Our WhatsApp booking system makes rescheduling quick and painless when shifts change at short notice.
Many MRI staff learn to drive specifically to improve their commute—public transport timetables do not always align with hospital shift times, and driving offers reliability that buses and trams cannot match. DriveSQ understands this practical motivation and structures your lessons to get you driving independently as efficiently as possible, without cutting corners on safety or skills.
Every DriveSQ student gets free access to our Student Portal with 700+ DVSA theory questions, 14 mock tests, hazard perception training, and progress tracking.
Flexible scheduling for hospital workers and students. Book via WhatsApp and learn at times that suit your shifts.
Lessons around Sharston use real local roads including Woodhouse Lane, Brownley Road and Altrincham Road, so by the time you're ready for your test you've already driven the streets you'll use every day after passing. Sharston Hall, a manor house built in 1701 on Altrincham Road, survived as a fire station and council offices before falling into disrepair and being demolished in 1986.
We also plan around school-run traffic near Crossacres Primary Academy and The Kingsway School, using quieter spots like Sharston Industrial Estate for early manoeuvre practice before stepping up to busier sections of Woodhouse Lane.
Test centre: most learners around Sharston test at Sale Driving Test Centre, 36-38 Poplar Grove, Sale, Trafford M33 7ER; mock tests are planned around the routes examiners actually use from there.
“Loved that lessons were planned around real Sharston traffic patterns rather than just driving round in circles.” – Charlie, Sharston
