Roundabouts are the number one source of serious faults on driving tests. Manchester has everything from tiny residential mini-roundabouts (Lapwing Lane, Didsbury) to massive multi-lane roundabouts (Trafford Centre, Crown Point). Each type needs a different approach, but the fundamentals are the same: MSPSL, correct lane, give way to the right.

Treat mini-roundabouts (white painted circle) the same as larger ones: give way to traffic from the right. In Didsbury, Chorlton, and Heaton Moor, mini-roundabouts appear on residential streets. Signal left if turning left, signal right if turning right, no signal if going straight ahead (signal left as you pass the exit before yours).
On roundabouts with marked lanes (Parrs Wood, Chorlton roundabout, Crown Point), lane markings are your guide. If lanes are not marked:
Some Manchester roundabouts (like the A34/A555 and parts of the M60) use spiral markings that guide you to the correct exit lane automatically. Follow the lane lines and do not change lane within the roundabout. Your DriveSQ instructor will show you these specific roundabouts during lessons.

DriveSQ offers targeted roundabout sessions — 2 hours focused entirely on roundabout confidence. We cover mini-roundabouts, multi-lane, and the specific roundabouts on your test-centre routes.
