Since June 2018, learner drivers can drive on motorways — but only with a DVSA-approved instructor in a dual-controlled car. You cannot practise on motorways with a friend or family member. DriveSQ offers motorway lessons on the M60, M62, and M56 from Manchester.

Greater Manchester sits at the hub of four major motorways:
Use the slip road to build speed to match motorway traffic (usually 60-70mph). Check mirrors, signal right, find a gap in lane 1, and merge smoothly. The M60 junction 5 (Princess Parkway) and junction 12 (Bredbury) are excellent practice spots — DriveSQ uses them regularly.

The golden rule: drive in the left lane unless overtaking. On the M60, "lane hogging" in lanes 2 or 3 causes congestion and is now an offence (£100 fine, 3 points). When overtaking, mirror-signal-mirror, move out, pass, mirror-signal-mirror, move back. Never undertake.
The M60 between junctions 8-18 and the M62 use smart motorway technology: variable speed limits (displayed on overhead gantries), hard-shoulder running during busy periods, and red X signs (lane closed — you MUST move out). Ignoring a red X is now automatically enforced by cameras.

Professional driving lessons across Greater Manchester. DVSA-approved instructors, modern dual-controlled cars, and a genuine focus on getting you test-ready.
